The Band is available for hire throughout the year. The Band normally provides two hours of music with a 20 minute break in the middle. The titles of the music that we currently perform can be found on the "Concerts and Events" page of this web site. You can also listen to the following live recordings of the Band - "Puttin on the Ritz"; "Livin La Vida Loca" and Crazy little thing called love". There are a number of regular performances dates that are booked each year by the same organisations. We provide our own seating and where necessary our own electricity supply for our bass guitar and amplifier. The Band has 5 million pounds "public liability" cover. Some of our equipment is brought to engagements in a small box trailer. We need access for this and the towing vehicle to within 20 metres of the performance area at least 20 minutes before and after the performance time. If the performance is outdoors, we require cover. For any further information please contact Dave Jones.
Our annual outlay for our rehearsal venue and insurance is approximately £2,500. Instrument repair and new music can add another £1,000. Our membership and performance fees balance against these costs.
Brecon Town Concert Band has regulalry performed at the Mayor's charity concerts. All of younger players are encouraged to join in all the local musical activities. The Band has provided the South Powys Youth Orchestra with the use of all our percussion instruments and has supplied older musicians for their concerts. Instruments have also been made available to the Brecon Jazz Festival. In 2002 the Band joined with the South Powys Youth Orchestra to perform in Theatr Brycheiniog for the 25th Anniversary of the Brecon and District disABLEd Club. Later that year, the Band hosted a week-end stay and performance by the Dutch Band, Kunst Nar Arbied. In 2003, following their appearance at the Band's Annual Concert, instruments were purchase and donated to St Joseph's Catholic Primary School. In 2004, the Band performed in Theatr Brycheiniog with the Michael House Jazz Band in aid of funds to feed, cloth and educate AIDS orphans in South Africa.
